Introduction to the Approach Shot
- 24-12-08
- Categorized in: Approach Shot

Purpose: An approach shot is used as a transition from the baseline to the net. Hitting an approach shot is the safest way to get to the net and win the point. Approach shots can be a forehand, a backhand, or a lob (if the opponent is at the net).
Tips and suggestions:
- Hit approach shots up the line (this cuts off the opponents angles when he hits the ball back)
- Keep the ball low. If the ball is low that means the return will be popped up high into the air. From there you can hit an easy overhead or volley
- Keep the ball deep so that your opponent has less time to react.
- Remember, the approach shot is not meant to be a winner; approach shots will simply set you up for a good volley. So don’t go for too much!
