You are actually demonstrating the one-handed backhander hit by Blake and (mostly) by Sampras. Federer's take-back of the racquet is more rotational (and so in sync more closely with the upper-body rotation). Laver used to hit his backhand like that as well. As an analogy, compare the more straight-back two-handed backhanders of Safin and Hewitt with that of Djokovic and you'll know what I mean. Also, in the way, Federer hits the backhand, one can generate topspin using the continental (hammer) grip. The advice about spreading the fingers is debatable. Many pros (including those at Bollettieri's) recommend it; others do not. It can affect the tendons.
