- Categorized in: Half Volley

Explanation:
The Half-Volley is a “quick pick up” shot. Most players will prefer to avoid this shot whenever possible. Despite the name, the half-volley is nothing like a volley. The basic resemblance is that there is no swing to this shot (similar to the volley).
Imagine yourself standing just behind the service line mid-point. This is known as no man’s land! The ball is coming towards you, landing directly in front of your feet. You barely have enough time to react. What do you do?
The Answer: Hit a half-volley Hitting a half-volley requires you to: First, let the ball bounce. Then, immediately after the bounce, you must push (not swing) the ball over the net.
Tips and suggestions:
Keep the racquet face flat! There should be no angle to the racquet. Completely flat .
Continue moving forward after this shot. If you were forced to hit this shot, chances are you are pretty close to the net...just keep coming.
Lastly, don’t swing. You are not in a good position in the point if you need to hit this shot. Going for too much could end the point.
